About National Alliance on Mental Illness of Johnson County:

NAMI Johnson County (NAMIJC) is an organization where people can meet and learn from each other. NAMI Johnson County is the local affiliate of NAMI Iowa and NAMI National. NAMI, the acronym for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation_s leading grassroots, self-help, education, support and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness.
Educational programs and classes provide information about illnesses, symptoms, treatment option, and available services for those living with a mental illness, as well as for those with whom they live and work. NAMIJC advocates for access to services, treatment, support and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raising awareness and building a community of hope for all those in need.
They joined the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce to know more of the business owners in the Iowa City area and share the work they are doing at NAMI Johnson County.
NAMI Johnson County serves the communities of Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty and all of Johnson County, although anyone is welcome to participate in their organization and activities. The NAMIJC team is inspired by the people attending their educational programs and support groups and leaving with a better understanding of mental health conditions, and increase coping skills. NAMI also empowers participants to become advocates for their family members.
