Updated:
July 13, 2009
The Iowa Office of Energy Independence has released the State Energy Program Application for funding through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act. Applications must be received by August 12, 2009, at 5 pm CST.
"The State Energy Program is one tool the Office of Energy Independence is using to help Iowa become more energy efficient," said Roya Stanley, Director of the Iowa Office of Energy Independence. "Job creation and energy cost-savings are priorities in scoring the applications. Funded projects will contribute to a brighter energy future for Iowa."
Funding will be made available in the following categories:
• Public Sector: $17 million for the buy-down of energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements
• Private Sector (including manufacturing and agriculture): $7 million in low-interest loans for energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements
• Non-profits: $5 million in low-interest loans for energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements
• Technology demonstration: $2 million in grants which implement technology that is commercially-available, but not yet widely-used in Iowa
• Training: Up to $1 million in grants which help to quickly implement the State Energy Program
• Innovative projects: Up to $2 million for the buy-down of projects which don't fit in any of the other five categories
