Community Youth Leadership Program: Call for Applications |
| Posted: March 24, 2008 |
Hang out on a helicopter pad. Meet the mayor. Get blindfolded and wander around for a while. The Community Youth Leadership Program is a fun way to learn about our community and find out how to become a leader! Apply now! All Johnson County high school students who will be in their Junior Year during the 2008-2009 school year are eligible to apply.
Here's what previous CYLP participants had to say about the program:
"I have gained the drive to be excellent" - Laura, Class of 2004-2005
"I'm a much stronger leader and have more confidence in my leadership skills." - Sarah, Class of 2005-2006
"I got to know people from other schools...it helped me see some new perspectives and opinions." - Vanessa, Class of 2005-2006
"I have gained the idea of bringing a sense of community with
you wherever you go." - Nicholas, Class of 2003-2004.
"I formed many friendships with my peers in CYLP" - Emily, Class of 2004-2005
The CYLP class meets for a full day once a month, August - February, to learn about the different areas of our community, including health care, human services, and economics. Applications for the class beginning in August 2008 will be accepted through May 2, 2008. The program is free to all accepted applicants. For more information, contact program director Lorin Ditzler at (319) 337-9637. Or see the CYLP application for more details, including program schedule.
