Are your networking skills hurting or helping your business?

It's happened to all of us. We meet someone at a business reception, association event, luncheon or even standing in line. Enjoyable albeit brief conversation ensues with a suggestion to stay in touch. Months later, the person’s card surfaces from the recesses of paperwork on your desk. And now it feels awkward, too late, you’re not sure the contact will remember who you are. Networking opportunities are endless, but if you’re not making the most of them you could be losing business. Margie Peskin of Search Forward explains how to develop a plan before the networking event, how to start a conversation at a networking event and find common ground with others and strategies for following up and staying in touch. After the Handshake: Take Networking to the Next Level, part of the Expert Edge Seminar Series, will take place Thursday, April 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the BioVentures Center . Cost is $25 for members. Register online by Monday, April 11.
